Assignment: Setting the theoretical production in any era or place that supports the play, design costumes for several characters.
I chose to set Shakespeare's The Tempest in the future and in space. Prospero has been living on an uncharted planet, on which Alfonso's ship must make an emergency landing.
I focused on the contrasts between the two groups of characters; those who had been stranded on the planet for decades, and those who have just arrived in their squeaky clean space suits.
