The Tempest Costumes

Ariel

As the character is not human, I decided to use a slightly androgynous body type. My Ariel is flat-chested but has great legs.
The face is covered during the scenes in which Ariel is 'invisible,' and can easily be uncovered for the rest of the production. The material is stretchy and breathable, allowing the performer to frolic willy-nilly.
The print on the hooded unitard draws from Ariel's place among the natural creatures of the planet. Yet Ariel is also magical and, to the human characters and audience, 'alien.' The costume is therefore decorated with a fantastical camoflage, which would be accompanied by matching scenery.
